You know the site, right?
It's become the biggest time suck of my nights. So much so, that I have had to ration my scrolling to only when I have finished the projects I have already pinned. Because to be honest, when someone hands me a $4,700 dollar check and says I have two years to rip apart our sun room and make it exactly the way I've always wanted, well, the creativity in me explodes.
And, it's messy my friends. Very messy.
Because remodeling the sun room means that I can rewire the ceiling lights and get rid of the chandelier. It means I can finally have the "window" between the sun room and the kitchen. It means more precious cabinet space and.... New floors! Which of course leads to new floors in the kitchen, that of course tie into the living room. And then, since I'm ripping out the floors in the living room as well, I might as well get new couches, and that salt water fish tank I've wanted for an eternity.
You see where this is going right?
*cough* Bankruptcy.
Anyway, to reel me back in,
Like these rainbow cakes that I made for Oldest's classroom. Or...
using bread tags to label my cords. Don't enlarge this, you'll spare yourself the goriness of the killer dust bunnies multipling on the cords in the back. Then, I tried to get all festive with the valances in the living room...
After 6 hours of sewing and measuring ribbon I was seriously rethinking this idea. None the less, I loved the way they came out. Then I decided to corral the Christmas cards with this idea from here...

I have to say, this was so simple I can't believe I never thought of it. I even had everything at the house already. Plastic cups in a red tote separated by cardboard. Place an ornament in each one, nothing gets broken, and it's easy to find every ornament next year. Genius!
I've tried my hand at photos on canvas, and this little project....
will adorn my walls somewhere, I'm just not sure where. (I'm also sorry, I have no idea how to link this picture back to it's original source) When I finally run out of laundry detergent, I will be trying this recipe. No worries, I'll be sure to report back and let you all know how it worked out.
Also on the list is revamping the basement stairs in brown paper. Only problem I will have is figuring how we will apply the 12 coats of poly without losing a child in the process.
So, since I was down to only two projects left, and I had Monday off, I decided it was time for a bit of rest.
PinteRest.
Wait until you see what I have planned for the sunroom!

Holy Creativeness Batman!! All these ideas are AWESOME. Although, the two I liked the most were the rainbow cake and the home made ornament organizer!!
ReplyDeleteI've been on that site for about a month and hardly have pinned anything. Perhaps I'm picky about what I'm looking for (food that isn't dessert) or else I just don't have an eye for stuff like you do.
ReplyDeleteAcross the top of my screen here are the following tabs: Gmail. Pinterest. My blog. Your blog. And a link from Pinterest for some little valentine things.
ReplyDeleteBut I can't pin, I don't have a facebook account... I think fb is the antichrist
Hurray for pinterest!! Great DIYs you shared here! I too love that ornament storage and can't believe it never came to mind!
ReplyDeleteBTW- I'm all for homemade laundry detergent. I made some and used it for a few months, then we ran out and rather than find the needed ingredients Mr. Man bought some detergent at the store. And that lead to having to buy dryer sheets again. Boo on that. Once this bottle of detergent is gone, I'm going back to making it so I don't have to use dryer sheets! You can also use Zote instead of Fels Naptha, it's cheaper too. And I think it smells fabulous.
Love the valances, those are gorgeous! I took a look at Pinterest, but it's so hard to sort through all the crap, it's like the clearance rack at Wal-muck. I just haven't gotten into it yet, or maybe I just don't get it (like twitter?)
ReplyDeleteIt'll grow on me, I'm sure. Maybe.
I am a Pinterest addict! :)
ReplyDeletedust bunnies and 12 coats of poly - I don't think that 4k is gonna cover it :) I'd spend that much on new Leather couches. Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteI am scared to go on Pinterest... I know it will suck my life away.
ReplyDeleteOn a different note, I am SOOO going to do the bread tags thing to the hoard of cords under my bed.
I haven't been to the site, but I have a feeling I may be cursing you come 3 pm and nothing is done today [at my house. heehee]
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love the idea of the cups and cardboard. WOOHOO. Awesome. I just need to buy the cups - I have those totes coming out the oobladee here. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
My,my,my,oh my! What creativeness abounds in you. :0)
ReplyDeleteLove it all.
Makes me wish....I was younger.
Since I was turned on to Pinterst, all I've done is download recipes that I probably will never make, nor do I need those extra calories. sighhhhh :0(
I am so stealing the ribbon idea for the Christmas cards for next year. Mine end up in a jumbled mess. Pinterest is definitely a huge time stealer. Let us know if we need to stage an intervention!
ReplyDeleteI can't even figure out Pinterest even though I'm on it. I'm scared that if I figure it out, I'll never look up from my laptop again. Ever.
ReplyDeleteYou sure are one crafty lady though. Love the rainbow cake. How did you ice it? Or did you?
Wow, I'm exhausted...how do you find the time to sleep? :)
ReplyDeleteBut I loved all of it!
I still haven't made my way over to Pintrest.... I figure I already have way more ideas than I have time.
ReplyDeleteOh Julianna... I have done my best to steer clear of that site... I am so worried that once I enter the site, I will never leave!!!
ReplyDeleteOoo now I want a rainbow cake. Yum.
