Go ahead.
Watch, I'll wait.
After Saturday's events, I returned home
Then Youngest Aye, Aye, Aye....
But when Oldest gets to the do do do dit do do do, do do dit melody, he throws in the word "fatty".
"Fat-tee Fat-tee fat tee, fattee, fattee"
Go ahead. Re-watch the video... it fits in perfectly.
And I just about peed myself laughing in the middle of the Cafe.
Damn. I love my kids.

I sucked it up and finally bought Tony his off-the-list Christmas gift.
I figured if there was ever a year I could do it, this was it.
There are still parts of it that I'll have to figure out later, but for now, it's done.
Now, I'm just praying he loves it.
(He reads everyday, so if you're dying of suspense, email me.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I never get to see my youngest nephew without a hoard of people around. He is three and is easily distracted by people he sees more often, which is fine. On Sunday they came down to exchange gifts with the boys as we will not see them on Christmas.
Damn. They are cute.
He and his 20 month old year old sister toddled around chasing the cat and playing with everything in the house. At one point I had curled up on the couch to watch a movie and I asked him to come sit and watch with me.
He crawled up on the couch, into my "pocket" (that's what I would call the spot between my butt and my curled up legs when Oldest was little) and pulled the blanket up over himself.
My heart about melted.
My boys don't fit in my pocket anymore, and while it was short lived, it was so nice to snuggle with him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Oldest made a really cool jet for his grandfather for Christmas. It was one of those wooden kits from Creatology. He's so excited to give it to him Sunday. I'd take a photo but he's already wrapped it.
Youngest is in the throws of designing his pinewood derby car for cub scouts.
I'm surprised he hasn't downloaded aerodynamic plans to reduce wind resistance and drag.
Yup. Things are definitely getting back to normal.
I'd never seen the commercial. It's cute. I seldom see commercials because of my best friend, DVR. I'm glad your family could make you laugh so hard, and I'm even more glad you didn't pee. Your boys might not fit in your pocket anymore, but one of these days one of them will pick you up and hug you or put his arm around you and hold you close and you'll have to look up to see his face. Favorite Young Man has always been a cuddler.

Lola
Oh, and I'll wait to find out what Tony's gift is. I don't know if I'll get anything so I can be surprised when I see what Tony gets.
ReplyDeleteLove,
You Know Who
As an old veteran of many a Pinewood Derby, I would like to tell you that the real secret to a winning car is not the aerodynamic design, but instead, the liberal use of graphite lubricant. WHOOSH!
ReplyDeleteWe don't watch regular television, only stuff on Netflix and the shows we buy from Amazon that we watch through our Roku. Sounds pretty modern for old farts like us!
ReplyDeleteSo glad things are getting back to normal!
Great commercial and I love the pocket. Wish I'd thought to call it that. I want to know what the gift is...
ReplyDeleteSounds like some really cool presents. I'd love to see the wooden airplane and derby car. btw...nope, haven't seen that commercial but glad you love your kids and they make you smile
ReplyDeleteThis post made me smile so much! :) I'm so glad that things are looking up for you, that you are smiling and laughing. I love that commercial and I love that you guys recreated it. hehe. I melt every time the little Monkey I nanny for comes up and asks to "snuggle bug" and tucks herself into me...it heals just about any hurt.
ReplyDeleteWhen I grew up we called it sitting in the hole.
ReplyDeleteMy youngest did that till she got too big but we stopped calling it sitting in the Hole once we realized what it sounds like. LOL
Maybe it is having girls, but my 5'8 and 5'9 daughters fit in the pocket still. Although they are still complaining about my bony hips/behind. :D Bring the pillow I say!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a nice rest of the weekend. The rocket has to be the coolest all time Grandpa present I have ever heard of - please give your son kudos from me. Just awesome. [I am SO asking for one next year. I swear.]
Have a fun rest of the week. :)
Ahhh...Pinewood. We get a year off. But next year. Is Tony all over that? Hubs always takes over the car.
ReplyDeleteMy friend, your family has been through so much this year. I am praying for you and your family. I hope you have a Merry Christmas. I really do!!
I love laughing with my family more than anything else we do together.
ReplyDelete:)
Your kids are awesome.
I just love your blog. I just started reading it. Typically when I find a new blog that I like I like to read the archives to get to know the blog a little better. I love your posts and your writing style. I am glad that things are getting back to normal in your household! Normality is very underrated.
ReplyDelete-K
:))))))) big smile here! normal is soooo good. we don't get that until we lose it. AND...how do you get your man to read you every day???? no really, tell me!!! tell me your powers!!!! TELL ME!!!!!!!!! I've tried withholding sex, bullying, cold shouldering... nothing works. He's sporadic at best. anyway... back to normal.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a very blasé Holiday sweet friend of mine! xoMOnkeyME
Pinewood Derby hints.
ReplyDeleteThin as possible
Turn car where the Wheels are closest to the back
Make sure it weighs as much as allowed
Added weight in front of the rear axle
polish axles where wheels run
debur the wheels
Make sure car tracks fairly straight on the floor.
If you have a treadmill, tie a string to it and let it run a while
Graphite, Graphite, Graphite use the ultra fine stuff its messy but works good.
I'm so happy that everything is pretty much back to 'normal'. If you can't laugh at your kids, who can? Bruce and I crack up just talking about things my granddaughters said 2 years ago that still stick with us. Life is about laughing. Not enough people do it. Great post. Loved the video too! Hugs.
ReplyDeleteAwww, that's so sweet! And the music bit in the cafe was hilarious! Brilliant. You have a great family. :)
ReplyDeleteTotally love it...I loved that commercial. I can just picture your kids and the song and it made me smile.
ReplyDeleteI am having an oh so shitty day... I needed to laugh Jules. Thanks!
Now if you had peed your pants in the restaurant, that would have made for another great story. I love your name for "the pocket". I think that is one of the coziest places for children and dogs to hang out.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to know what you got, but I'm patient and can wait for next week.
ReplyDeleteSo glad things are returning to "normal"...and I love your normal...sounds like so much fun.
ReplyDeleteI love that commercial and it makes me SO happy that the boys and tony did that. Not only did they do it but in public. Makes me giddy like a flash mob.
