No one was injured.
So already we're off to a better start.
The squirrel seems to have lived, and is most likely planning his revenge.
I have stopped attempting to wrap my head around the events that unfolded yesterday. I can not change it. So, I am focusing on my son who turns 11 tomorrow. The house smells of confectionery delights, there is frosting everywhere, and I am pleased to say I actually made something I saw on Pinterest.
Rainbow cupcakes! (click here for recipe and directions) But we're calling them Tye dye cupcakes, because that's cooler and not as girly.
Whatever. It's still way easier than the Birthday Bugs that he originally wanted....

Damn. It's like high school all over again.

My daughter and I love Pinterest! Between the two of us, we've made probably 10 or more recipes from there! My daughter got her Advent calendar idea from there and I made a neat Christmas decoration inspired by something I have seen there. Weird.
ReplyDeleteI saw that cake on Pinterest, too!
That's funny..the Dorky girl. What great looking cupcakes and I trust the Squirrel regains his composure! Squirrel revenge...could be messy
ReplyDeleteLove the tie dye cupcakes. I wont be making them but I would be glad to taste test them for ya.
ReplyDeleteYou are lucky it was just a squirrel. I have to pass 3 dead skunks on the way to work.
High school never ends and we're all the dorks. Congratulations on not killing anything today.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Lola
Squirrels are harmless most of the time. Too busy playing with their nuts to bother you.
ReplyDeletePortia turned me on to Pinterest. I am not good enough to be invited because I think Facebook is the antichrist and deactivated my account ages ago.
I guess I'm a bigger dork than you are.
Looking at the dishes to wash...turned me off. ;0) Sure looks yummy....hmmmm maybe, just maybe....hmmmmmmmmmmmm
ReplyDeleteBirthday wishes to your young one.
I haven't a clue what pinterest is or how to get invited. I do know that my daughter and I will be making those cakes!! I showed her the pictures and that did the trick - I guess I need to get to the grocery store today!
ReplyDeleteAmi's comment reminded me of a time when I went on this walking trail in Irving, TX...the squirrels were so domesticated they'd actually sit up and beg for food...that's when I got my first glimpse of, dare I say it?, squirrel nuts. They are huge! I don't know why, but this had me laughing for days.
ReplyDeleteThe cupcakes look so good!
Way cute cupcakes!! And I love the "tie-dye" cakes you made! I have plans to make one with the girls once we can get to Whole Foods for some natural food colours (cause I'm weird like that). I don't know why pinterest requires an invite, I remember Google mail and Google+ once required invites as well.
ReplyDeleteAnd I so addicted to pinterest. My pins go in spurts, like gosh I'm hungry, what yummy things have people pinned? or right now I'm all about canning and homesteading pins........I blame John Denver.
Wow, those are some cupcakes!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how cool they are! Leave it to you Jules to be the perfect Mom....YOU rock!
Love ya,
Lisa
Great cupcakes but still...don't go to that party alone!
ReplyDeleteOh My! have nnot been commenting?? I have not been in a blogging mood, but I read all of yours and think about commenting, I guess it just never makes it past that!
ReplyDeleteThose cakes look GREAT! I even went to her page and read there. (the sage green frosting was weird I thought)
I have no birthdays to bake for until January. But my birthday is in December...... Maybe I'll make this for my Board Gaming Party!!
